Volunteer Projects

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities through our Long Island and Westchester offices. Below are just a few examples.

• Wrap birthday gifts (every month)

• Pack Thanksgiving baskets –(late October and early November)

• Pack school supplies – (July through mid-August)

• Assemble “Get Organized” Bags (GO Bags) – (Fall and Spring)

• Represent Friends of Karen at community and school events (all year)

• Decorate shamrocks for neighborhood fundraisers (early February before St. Patrick's Day)

• Address holiday cards

• Assemble small mailings

• Staff a rest stop for the Golden Apple Bike Ride in Westchester – (September)

• Help out at the water tables for the Walk/Run for Friends of Karen at the Long Island Marathons (May) and the Hamptons Marathon (September)

• Pack gifts for the Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program – (November & December)

• Gardening and yard clean up (Fall and Spring)

• Building maintenance

• Hospitality at galas, golf outings and other fundraisers

• Data entry and other computer work

• Miscellaneous writing assignments (press releases; newsletter articles)
