Board Member

Marisa became part of a Friends of Karen Family in 1990 after her sister was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She joined the Board in March 2021 as a way to pay it forward and to help fulfill Friends of Karen’s mission to help keep families stable, functioning, and able to cope.

After spending 20+ years in the luxury retail industry, and coming from a long line of educators, it was only natural for Marisa to transition into the education sector where she is currently serving as Chief Operating Officer and an academic mentor with The Brain Bodega LLC.; her sister’s education services company.

In addition to working with Friends of Karen, Marisa is also a VP of her alumni class at the University of Pennsylvania where she received her B.S. from the Wharton School. She is an avid cyclist (and is thrilled to participate in FOK’s Journey of the Heart Ride) who also enjoys hiking and tennis. Marisa and her husband are longtime residents of NYC.
